My story
I decided to do my Advanced Life Coaching qualification after the drive to want to help others through life became so strong I couldn’t not do it.
My own journey with life coaching started after I had engaged in therapy for OCD and depression amongst other things. I had spent years working on ‘fixing’ the problem and left therapy feeling a huge sense of accomplishment now that I was ‘officially better’.
Within a couple of months of this, it started to dawn on me that I didn’t know what I was doing. I was 25, spent years getting better and receiving support from some great professionals, but it dawned on me that throughout my entire journey of recovering not a single person has asked me what I wanted to do AFTER I was better.
I didn’t have aspirations or goals, I didn’t know who I was without mental health being at the forefront, I didn’t know what I wanted in life. So I began to search for a new way and as chance would have it, I came across an advert about Life Coaching.
I spoke to the coach and just knew this was the path for me so signed up.
What it gave me was a way forward. Rather than looking back all time at what had happened, we acknowledged it to understand how I had come to this point and then looked forward.
The relief of having a path forward that I could work on along with supportive tools was so wonderful.
Some magical changes happened in my life in the following years. But of course, life if unpredictable and in my early 30s with family illness, changing dynamics, loss of loved ones through to my own poor health with chronic fatigue and burnout.
Almost simultaneously, I was inspired to seek out Life Coaching for myself again as well as becoming qualified my self. I had found myself ‘stuck’ again and completely burnt out. I believe in the power of coaching and how it can benefit everyone so it made complete sense for me to work with a coach again and I cannot tell you how happy I am that I did and can now help others!
What makes me different
My mental health challenges started at a time when mental health was still taboo, so I truly understand that your struggles are not a trend and what you are going through can have a serious impact on your how you can live your life. I understand the sting of the fake smile, jokes at your own expense to disguise where you feel you are failing (spoiler alert: you’re not!) and that feeling of trying to balance how and what to share of your personal battles.
My lived experience of feeling like your life is not your own, feeling lost, caring for loved ones whilst feeling annoyed and guilty at the same time, along with my Advanced Life Coaching qualification allows me to work with you from a perspective that change is not as simple as “why don’t you just...”
My coaching method looks to where you are now. We look at how your experiences have shaped you and strip it back to the foundations, what is important to you now, how have you changed and we look to the best way you can move forward. We work at your pace to allow sustainable, long term change to settle into your life so you can live with confidence.
